Peddicord Wharton Partner, Scott Beattie, Appointed District Court Judge in Judicial District 5C

On June 6, 2018, Gov. Kim Reynolds appointed Peddicord Wharton Partner, Scott J. Beattie, as a district court judge in Judicial District 5C. Scott will fill the judicial seat formerly held by Judge Eliza Ovrom.

Scott joined Peddicord Wharton in 2003 and became a partner with the firm in 2006. During his time with Peddicord Wharton, Scott has specialized in civil litigation, including personal injury, professional malpractice, employment, civil rights and product liability matters. He has litigated numerous jury trials across the state and provided his clients with exceptional results. He has been recognized by his peers for his advocacy skill by his selection as a Fellow in the Iowa Academy of Trial Lawyers. He has served as mediator and helped people reach resolutions in difficult legal matters.

Scott has served on the board of Altoona Campus and is a past board member of Joppa Homeless Outreach and Bethany Christian Services. He has been an elder in his church, and has been a member of the Serve Team, WGO, Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
